Welcome Reception for Israeli Draft Dissident Released from Prison

A welcome ceremony took place on Wednesday Feb 15, 2017 in the city of Beit Shemesh, where residents took part took part in a reception for Brisker student Avraham Zelig Parzicherter, who was arrested last week for 10 days in the military prison, for his refusal to serve in the Israeli army.

Upon his release, he was received by Rabbi Yehoshua Rosenberger, the anti-Zionist Chief Rabbi of the city of Beis Shemesh, in the presence of about two dozen activists and community leaders. Then his supporters went out on the streets of the city with a dance of support.

Following are English translations of the Hebrew songs in this video.

0:00 – 0:22

And all the pride of the wicked I shall cut off; the pride of the righteous will be upraised. (Psalms 75:10)

His enemies I shall clothe with shame, and upon him his crown will shine. (Psalms 132:18)

0:23 – 0:49

(This song was written in the late 1940's by Rabbi Amram Blau during the time he was held in a Zionist prison for demonstrating)

The Almighty is our King and to Him we are subservient,

Our holy Torah is our Law and to it we are truthful.

In a regime of heretics we do not recognize, with its laws we do not reckon,

In the path of the Torah we stride, in fire and in water,

In the path of the Torah we stride, to Sanctify the Name of the Almighty.

0:49 – 0:58

Zion, won't you seek out the welfare of your captives? (Liturgical poem by Rabbi Judah Halevi, 12th century)
